picking my decrepit cat up when he wants up has become such second nature that as long as my body isn't aching and he isn't interrupting anything super involved, i don't realize when i pick him up. i will stop, get up, pick him up, sit down, and not notice i did any of that until he decides to move.

i have decided that i am never going to use OBS for dynamic text ever again
i will just have my image editor open and re-render the crime counter each and every time we have an addition to make. it is easier, it is faster, and it doesn't force me to compromise and make the whole thing look like ass

i'm used to adaptations of games changing a ton of stuff, and remakes are basically another adaptation. so i think it's fine for remakes to change things. it just gets tricky when there is such a thing as a "current canon", because then only maybe half the fanbase is ever happy.
