I was proud of Henry for coming in hard for I Still Believe

I’m sorry this guy can’t enjoy nice things but even mediocre beer tastes way better than ginger ale jfc

Yeah not for nothing but the argument basically boiled down to *which* Tim Cappello lick

It’s a little too smooth to win nastiest

Just to be clear I’m the only one in this argument who does not play saxophone so I’m probably wrong.

Throwing Copper is 11/10 no notes. Like, I have along suspected they actually sold their soul to the devil for that one because everything else they ever did after it has been wildly subpar.

Oh wow that’s delightful!
November 17, 2025 at 6:14 PM
You know what you did.

1993 and 1994 were really the high water mark for 90’s alternative rock.
November 17, 2025 at 6:09 PM
I’d also post Live Through This for 1994.

I agree Dookie is perfect as well, and I would not argue with the blue album
November 17, 2025 at 6:09 PM
Were I a year older I would post Throwing Copper with no hesitation.

I am a mad, passionate lover of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness but it’s a sprawling mess and that’s part of its charm but that means I can’t call it *perfect* the way I can call Siamese Dream perfect with no reservations.

Country music is a much a *scene* as it is a style of music. (This is/was also true with Alternative in the 90s and Indie in the 00s.)

Americana and folk are just in a different clique.

Financial planners have no business saying anything at all about the gift tax.
November 17, 2025 at 4:53 AM
The annual gift tax exclusion is not on most people’s radar for a reason. For the vast majority of parents it’s completely irrelevant, especially since the unified credit is so high and direct tuition payments don’t count as gifts at all.

I’ve fired plenty of therapists over the years. You can just say “hey this isn’t working for me, I’m going to find someone else. Best of luck.”
November 17, 2025 at 3:34 AM
“Tax free” is a bit of an overstatement since you have to fund a 529 with after-tax dollars and don’t get a deduction.

Yeah but on campus interview week was like hundreds of firms interviewing hundreds of students in 15-minute blocks over a three or four day period. I’m not saying hotel rooms were appropriate, but a small conference room wouldn’t have done the trick.

I just preemptively blocked everyone in that thread because I don’t want to see their opinions ever again
