But this bitch has teeth,” Fiona said, her voice iron, “So you are going to take a walk, and cool off. Do not come back today either. Now walk.” Fiona spoke, "Wait. That could be dangerous. She was the one who insulted the prince. They might not take kindly to Lady Ren's presence in the embassy." "Lynn has asked me to do this. I'll do this." I said. "Indeed," Fiona said. "And I respect your loyalty. I shall accompany you." Leon held a hand out to stop Fiona, "You can't. Neither of you can. It’s too dangerous." "Leon, your grace," Fiona answered, "We are the only ones who can. Your rank would escalate things, even if you went to apologize. Vincent cannot apologize on behalf of Ys, as he is Agarthan. Ren and I are high enough rank for the apology to be meaningful. But we are of low enough rank that our apology will not weaken the position of Ys as a whole. And I can protect Lady Ren, if the situation turns ugly." “I did warn you about Scythian snake vodka.” Fiona said, placing a gentle hand on my shoulder. “You also reminded me that Scythians look at mild drinkers as weak in spirit.” “Indeed. But I was not encouraging you to get in a drinking contest with my uncle. He is more bear than man. I have never met anyone who can keep up with him when he starts drinking hard.” “You have now.” I said, trying not to sound smug. “I have. But I think you are paying for your achievement.” Fiona stepped between Magnus and Monique. Magnus looked down at Fiona, eyebrows raised. “Either way, that is an alibi.” Fiona said. Magnus moved to step around Fiona, she moved to block him again. “Use your vision, Lord Magnus. See my aura. You cannot best me.” He stopped. And gave Fiona an appraising look. His eyes widened, and he took a short step backward. Sven watched Magnus, but said nothing.

From tbe unreleased: Island of the Serpentine Secret.

Ren gets knocked around.

TW: broken bones, eye injury.
I dropped my cane and stepped forward so I wasn’t firing through Fiona. I raised my pistol. And then the hydra hit us. I heard my gun go off. I lost consciousness. I woke in the air. And then I landed, and lost consciousness again. I opened my eyes, I felt blood trickle across my left eye. The eye wouldn’t open. I looked around. The hydra appeared cornered, it snarled at us from a corner. But it didn’t attack. I looked around, bodies lay scattered across the room. Leon and Giles were still standing and had retrieved spears. They were threatening the hydra, but not attacking. I tried to stand, and my arm gave out. I fell back to the ground, my right arm screaming in pain. I looked at the arm. It bent in the wrong direction just above the wrist. Further, the arm flopped strangely when I tried to move it. The shoulder hurt like hell I realized. I used my left arm and pushed to my feet. “Amy. Fiona. Are you alright?” “We are alive, beloved.” Fiona said as she helped Amy to her feet. Fion looked fine, practically unhurt. That didn’t surprise me. Amy was covered in bruises. I walked to them. Amy stared at my arm in obvious horror. “How are you doing Amy? Fiona, I assumed you’re fine?” “I am largely unhurt, yes.” Fiona answered. “Your arm. Dearest, oh no. Oh gods.” “It hurts,” I said, and managed a smile. “How are you?” “I’m bruised. No, I’m fine. Forget me. Your arm is terrible.” “Indeed. Let me look. Hmm. You have broken both your radius and your ulna. And you have dislocated your shoulder.” “I’m pretty sure the hydra did that.” I said. “And your eye.” Fiona said. “Can you open your eye?” I shook my head, “No, I tried.” Fiona gently placed her fingers above and below my eye. She pulled the eyelid open. I heard Amy gasp. I could still see out of the left eye, but my vision was cloudy. Fiona pursed her lips and then grimaced. “You need a healing potion. And we have none.”
