Not that I'm defending them, but it's actually hard to see East Executive Ave from a public vantage point - maybe from top of the W Hotel. But unless Treasury press room reporters have freedom to go over there, it's hard to access that area generally. They closed that pedestrian road ~20+ years ago.

So they gave $4 trillion in tax cuts to the wealthy and slash SNAP, education, Medicare and Medicaid for millions among other things and suddenly they’re worried about $1.5 trillion to restore and preserve healthcare. This is literally on HUD.gov website front page.
Ridiculous text on the front of hud.gov: The Radical Left are going to shut down the government and inflict massive pain on the American people unless they get their $1.5 trillion wish list of demands. The Trump administration wants to keep the government open for the American people.

It's a former bank building, Union Trust Building, with minimal windows so I think that's less of an issue, but still the fact that the room wasn't cleared out is staggering. It isn't his old hotel where they could have greater control of the site. Maybe they did screen everyone, but clearly missed.

On September 4, at 3:53 pm, counsel for Defendants contacted Plaintiffs’ counsel by email requesting consent to a one-day extension of time. In response, Plaintiffs’ counsel stated that “We are inclined to consent to your extension request, premised on a commensurate extension for the replies to preserve our allotted time. We have become concerned, however, about reports that the administration may be planning events mirroring those of last weekend but targeting other unaccompanied children. We are hoping to avoid the necessity of another quick-turn weekend TRO. We believe the briefing schedule would, at minimum, need to be adjusted were such events to unfold. We request that you confirm that your clients do not plan to imminently seek to deport or repatriate unaccompanied children, of other-than Guatemalan nationality, in the custody of ORR during the pendency of the weekend. With that modest agreement in place, we will agree to your request.” Defendants refused to consent to that modest request.

The kids have been deplaned thank goodness. Filed a minute before the deadline.
STATUS REPORT AND RESPONSE TO ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE Defendants hereby provide notice that all of the class members that were on planes today have been deplaned and are in the process of being returned to ORR custody. Defendants will provide an additional update once that transfer to ORR custody has been completed and confirmed, which Defendants expect will occur today. Because Defendants had not yet entered an appearance, they had not received notice of this Court’s order requiring a status report by 4:00pm and thus were not aware of it. Asked at his Scotland presser about an incident where Trump reportedly threw the late financier out of Mar-a-Lago, he told reporters: “For years I wouldn't talk to Jeffrey Epstein. He did something that was inappropriate. He hired help and I said ‘Don't ever do that again.’ He stole people that worked for me and I said ‘Don’t ever do that again.’ And he did it again and I threw him out of the place … and that was it.
