Not that I'm defending them, but it's actually hard to see East Executive Ave from a public vantage point - maybe from top of the W Hotel. But unless Treasury press room reporters have freedom to go over there, it's hard to access that area generally. They closed that pedestrian road ~20+ years ago.

So they gave $4 trillion in tax cuts to the wealthy and slash SNAP, education, Medicare and Medicaid for millions among other things and suddenly they’re worried about $1.5 trillion to restore and preserve healthcare. This is literally on HUD.gov website front page.

Despite all the horribles in the world and our city right now, it’s still a beautiful place. @washprobs.bsky.social @capitalweather.bsky.social

It's a former bank building, Union Trust Building, with minimal windows so I think that's less of an issue, but still the fact that the room wasn't cleared out is staggering. It isn't his old hotel where they could have greater control of the site. Maybe they did screen everyone, but clearly missed.

Uh, well the lawyers who rep the Guatemalan children who were nearly deported last weekend told the judge they fear DHS will again attempt to deport children this weekend, unclear what nationality. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

And there were 16 days in early 2025 too without any federalization of our city. They can GFT.

For the last decade or so, Republicans have complained that Democrats wanted to tax the rich to redistribute their wealth to the poor. Now Republicans are literally taking from the poor - and middle class - to give to the rich with their #BigBadBill.

Ironically the fence around VP residence has now been wrapped in black sheeting to hide whatever it is he’s really up to …
June 19, 2025 at 12:49 AM
So is this the new undisclosed location for the VP? Blackout sheeting now covers the perimeter fence of the Naval Observatory, aka the Vice President’s residence, facing Mass Ave.

A senior staffer for Minnesota Sen. Tina Smith wrote the following to Sen. Mike Lee’s staff after his horrific taunt on social media about the murder of a state lawmaker, her husband and shooting of another lawmaker and their spouse. Despicable. He should be censured if not booted from the Senate.

Well Bukele's Qatar private jet is due to take him to NY around 6pm today. So he's not going home yet.
April 14, 2025 at 6:45 PM
Well seems he flew on a Qatari jet - I hear they’re pretty good at negotiating prisoner exchanges.

Garcia's lawyers already replied - crux of it is he's there at behest of US govt under contract of the US govt & wouldn't be there for any other reason + El Salvadoran govt isn't seeking him. www.supremecourt.gov/docket/docke...
April 7, 2025 at 7:52 PM
The lawyers for Garcia already replied, it's in the docket & boils down to this: US sent him there under a contract to be detained on behalf of the US. Garcia isn't sought by El Salvadoran gov't (until they try to change that) & that is only reason he's there. www.supremecourt.gov/docket/docke...
