Did your kid receive a children's book for the holidays? Better make sure it wasn't written by AI.
AI is coming for your toddler's bedtime story
Artificial intelligence poses an increasingly real threat to children’s literature—and children’s learning.

This is interesting, especially the part about how Britain abolished slavery at great economic cost to itself, and the suggestion that we need more of that kind of leadership today.

Six months after ICE apprehended 47 people, including nine kids, in Hays County, Tex., County Judge Ruben Becerra said DHS has ignored his attempts to get answers:

“We’re not told why they took them, and we’re not told where they took them. By definition, that’s a kidnapping.”

I think the reason my intuition that AI is bad won't go away, is that I think we just don't need it. We have enough workers, materials, and energy to build, train, heal, and grow everything we need, but we employ people in pointless work or not at all, and choose not to train them.

This may be really wrong, so give me better numbers and sources (or interpretations) if you have them, but if I understand correctly:

Global beef takes 250 trillion gallons of water per year.

Global AI is on track to use 2 trillion gallons in the next couple years.

How awful. This is outright health disinformation, lying to the American people. Not only is there massive evidence showing no link between vaccines & autism, there’s not even a plausible mechanism based on what we’ve learned about the genetics of autism, some environmental exposures in pregnancy
HEADS UP: CDC website now officially asserts that vaccines may cause autism.“Studies supporting a link have been ignored by health authorities.” Also says the “vaccines do not cause autism” header remains b/c of an agreement with Cassidy.

Imprisoning and harassing people for low level drug and immigration offenses will not reduce crime, improve jobs, raise birth rates, reduce drug overdoses, shrink the deficit, or bring factories back. But public investment in childcare, education, healthcare, and housing, and taxing the rich, would.

Children across the country are being traumatized by this administration.

Listen to this mother talk about how ICE raided her child's preschool. It's insane that this #ICELawlessness can happen in the United States of America!

Is this still the land of liberty?

Raise taxes on the rich in Washington state. Some progress has been made the past few years, but in my opinion there's still a long way to go to be non-regressive and adequately fund the things we and our economy rely on.
