I am happy to link any television producer with multiple whistleblowers who will say how horrific the pressure is with obviously suicidal patient. Questioning the legitimacy of suicidality, as this ‘article’ implicitly does, is incredibly dangerous x

If someone is very withdrawn, whether due to psychosis, shutdown, depression or trauma, the best approach is to neither intrude nor disappear but to gently and occasionally make your potential presence known, ‘without memory or desire,’ to inappropriately quote Bion.

Patients with complex needs aren't being asked to do more with less—they're being asked to do everything with nothing, bc we've access to nothing, are provided with nothing, but scapegoating & victim blaming for a government providing an archetype for the coercive & controlling, toxic relationship.
2 million people are stuck on mental health waiting lists. GPs are overwhelmed. After years of underfunding and undervaluing, Labour’s response is creeping ever closer to blaming patients for not ‘looking after themselves.’ This is peak neoliberalism—dangerous for both mental and physical health.

💙📚 Just finished Ruth Madievsky's All-Night Pharmacy, before returning to Vernon Subutex's further travails.

I loved the confident & deft relationship building w the reader while navigating tricky behaviours & challenging themes from the outset. T'was open but never voyeuristic.

A damn fine book.

💙📚 A facinating book: raw & frenetic w/o ever being unhinged from its reality populated by ugly people & emotions. But there's so more here: care, sensitivities, depth & when given the chance, hope & opportunity.

Holy-moly, you feel the despair bc it's so beautifully visceral & real. Stunning.

💙📚 I ended up buying five copies of Claire North's 84k for friends, I liked it so much.

And if it is really too late to start reading anything, perhaps reaching for a novelist touched by genius is either daft or essential.

Probably both.
