This is happening in Chicago. If you’re not familiar with the South Shore neighborhood, it’s about 3 miles from where the Obamas still have a home. They had their wedding reception in the South Shore Cultural Center (my parents too).

Who knew 1940s Germany was only miles away from where we live.
Remember that there are righteous people among us, always.

Damn right. You got what you voted for. No need for us to support that shit show.

Not hard to see the modern versions in the MAGA movement, or the cowardly GOP bootlickers.
Every few months now I re-read this "Who Goes Nazi?" piece from 1941 and am blown away by how it captures the people we are dealing with 80 years later.

Dear American citizens, whatever you wish more German citizens would have done in 1933, do that now.

Man, the 1st Amendment died really quick down south, didn't it?

How is this not a major story?

Bang on. Important read.
Indeed.

But in the end, few recall precisely the days January 30 (when Hitler became Chancellor), February 27 (Reichstag fire), March 22 (Dachau opened), March 23 (Enabling Act passed)—they just remember 1933.

Likewise, everyone will remember 2025.
The precise moment when and where in recent weeks America crossed that invisible line from democracy into authoritarianism can and will be debated by future historians, but it’s clear that the line itself has been crossed. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/america-ti...

Brutal. We need more of these to highlight the hypocrisy.
Former DOJ pardon attorney shared some details on the pardons issued on Day 1 of the Trump admin.

Canada was on the front lines in fighting fascism. Those that came home rarely spoke about what they had seen and what they had done to free other people from tyranny.
We need those stories now more than ever.

OK, I really get depressed when fellow Canadians reveal how selfish they are. It's a small sacrifice for the greater good of society. As someone who's been in countries with Authoritarian regimes, trust me: Canada ain't one. Suck it up, buttercup.

As wildfires rage across much of the Atlantic provinces, frustrations are increasing over government decisions in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick to ban people from the tinder dry forests on crown land.

It's Friday and latest headlines just serve to remind me that America is ruled by a bunch of cowards, racists, racists, and assholes. And at least half of the country is at least one of these groups, but likely more.

Very important read.
Occasionally I come across an article in the foreign press that’s strikes me as so important that I want to share it with you. The following was originally written by an Israeli professor of law named Orit Kamir. https://robertreich.substack.com/p/a-betrayal-of-the-victims-of-the

Every morning, and before I go to bed, I do a check to see what those MAGA cunts south of the border have done now. They rarely fail to move the bar just a bit more into greater extremes of cuntness.

But Israel is totally not doing anything wrong, right? And all the G7 nations do is belatedly issue stern press statements. Israel is committing, at best, multiple war crimes and crimes against humanity, and at worst, genocide. In full view of the world.
EX GREEN BERET: “In my entire career, I never witnessed the brutality and use of indiscriminate & unnecessary force against an unarmed, starving civilian population until I was in Gaza at the hands of IDF & US contractors… without question, war crimes.”

Damn right.
I spoke up about Trump building an American concentration camp.
The Alberta MAGA separatists erupted with bile, hate and threat. This mob are trying to break up our nation.
They try to silence patriotic Canadians with hate shit.
Ain't gonna happen.
