Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

#OTD 80 years ago, over 7,000 starved and emaciated prisoners were liberated in Auschwitz, among them were 700 children.
1.3 million people were sent to this unimaginable place of horror. Most of the deportees were Jews, 1.1 million. Among them were also:

#OTD in 1899, a star of Polish cinema was born, Eugeniusz Bodo. He was elegant, intelligent, talented and a one of a kind human being. His life would be tragically cut short during WW2 because of the Soviet occupation.

Last night, for the 110th Anniversary of the 1914 Christmas Truce, we held a special final Christmas Eve #TrenchesByTwilight tour in our trenches at Brook Farm Camp.

Taff Gillingham led everyone through the trenches and told the story of the Truce, supported by the GWH team…
