The path to further along the sea wall is currently closed whilst they place some large rocks in front of the wall to protect it from erosion. The closure means Kingston Pill inlet and Dowlais Pool(*) can't be viewed (*is it a pool yet after it dried up over the summer?!)

I haven't been to Pill for quite a few months, but made the effort and went this afternoon. Saw the usual Sandpiper flitting between either side of the river, and ditto a pair of Curlew.

Also heard, and maybe saw a Water Rail running around in a dark overgrown ditch (but could just have been a young Moorhen). Again can't confirm 100%.

Some Canada Geese, Mallards, gulls and Skylark are seen on the aforementioned high tide. This area is usually a large expansive salt marsh, but when super high tide, it all but disappears..

Don't often see Snipe but were lucky to spy four on the island today.

The wall will be shut for five weeks whilst they dump tons of large boulders in front of the exposed sea wall to protect it.
