Ryan Coogler’s bloodsucker blockbuster is all about Black creative freedom. No wonder the industry saw it as a threat.

"While other universities report that the humanities are shrinking, at Berkeley, the opposite is true. The music major is the fastest-growing major on campus. We are finding bigger classrooms because film is exploding. English is back to the numbers we saw 15 years ago. We are hiring" bit.ly/4ohKuOe

If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

I think Democrats in both houses have somehow (focus groups? pundits?) decided that threats to health care must be their focus in fighting Trump & Republicans. Did someone say to them "it's health care, stupid?" Calling on the military & national guard to attack US citizens merits some energy too

“The CDC you knew is over,” the infectious diseases doctor told The Advocate. “Unless someone takes radical action, there is nothing there that can be salvaged.”

This post, from a Cornell Law professor, is worth reading:

We’ve got in the habit, starting in earnest a year ago, of blaming the craziness of populists on political polarization.

But there has not, in any measurable way, been a general polarization to extremes of left and right. Only one side became polarized

Opinion: No, politics haven’t become polarized. Only one side has moved to the extremes
Many became attracted to fringe ideas and conspiracy theories on the right, but there hasn’t been a similar shift, of any significant scale, on the left

The demand for “viewpoint diversity” does not extend to the Board of Visitors at UVA. As usual THE CAVALIER DAILY is a very fine newspaper. Perhaps we should get some of its journalists appointed to the NYTimes.

Here is a look at Board members’ political donations — all but one of whom has records of political donations which are overwhelmingly to Republican candidates and campaigns.

Here again, Professor McDowell sharing wisdom that could not be more timely
My late friend & colleague, Julian Bond, kept a clutch of notecards (as do I) excerpting passages from the thinkers/activists informing his work & guiding his actions. Frederick Douglass was chief among them. Here is a screenshot of one card from the collection.
