I'm teaching an online asynch career class for English majors with 60 students. They're each doing 2 informational interviews with alumni, which scares them a lot. 10 students have gone dark. Emailing every week didn't work. So yesterday, I sent them this absurd picture of my dog. "Come see me."

I've been teaching a novel-writing class at Ball State for 15 years, and this group had some writing CHOPS. Plus they came to class! Turned in their stuff! Talked in class! Looked at me when I was lecturing instead of at their screens! Helped each other! Emailed me when they had to miss class!

The red Japanese maple leaves fell like a carpet around my laughing Buddha.

Please admire my Japanese maple before the wind and rain and maybe snow take all those red leaves away.

Jackson was at the kennel for 5 nights! Playing hard. Doing Zoomies. But now he is home under the covers with me.

This is the last item I brought home from my ex husband's apartment the day after he died. A bin of old towels. It sat in the garage for 6 months, until I set it down in my bedroom for another few months. Now it's in my kitchen. When I finally put it in the basement, that's it. No more Eric.

Jackson is so patient.

I was going to have a party tomorrow night. First one in like 7 years! But the city of Muncie decided that was *the day* it was going to pave my pot-holed and patched street. Damn. I got corn-hole boards, wine, and fancy outdoor lights!

"For America is full of people like the Hoosiers. America is a larger Indiana; and if we knew what had gone wrong--and right--with Indiana we might well know what has gone wrong--and right--with the nation." -- from Indiana: An Interpretation by John Bartlow Martin, 1947

Woke up this morning from a horribly vivid dream that felt like a message from my departed ex husband. But the day got better, thank god.

Last week I went on a little vacay. Sitting by the dock on the lake. Wasting time. PM. AM.

I might have died and gone to heaven without ever remembering this song... if it wasn't for that NYTimes obit. And what a shame that would have been! #ozzy

A long day in the garden dividing lilies. I feel terrible and wonderful.

If worms wig you out, don't watch, but just look at them! I make my own compost to plant my daylilies. My ex-husband (RIP) would be so proud. 🌱

Today's new bloom was bright yellow YUMA. Which pairs well with Coburg Fright Wig. 🌱
