Happy Earth Day!! A shout out for all of the critters that roam this beautiful blue marble. Let’s hope we don’t completely destroy it. 🤞🌎

Venturing out on the last leg of a month of travel - this time to Louisiana for a few days of rest - before heading back to Colorado for private tours. Belize was fantastic - lots of birds, iguanas, crocodiles, monkeys, a gray fox, toads, and even a few coatis! Here is a photo of a great curassow.

I love seeing the sandhill cranes return to Colorado in the spring, when snow-capped peaks, colorful sunsets and sunrises, and vast expanses of valley frame the birds so nicely. 😉🏔️

Cowabunga!!!! We watched a troupe of about two dozen squirrel monkeys jumping from tree to tree. It was like watching a live game of Donkey Kong! 😆🐵 Wheeeeeee!!!

More photos from the Amazon River Basin. These are a three-toed sloth and a hoatzin, an absolutely stunning bird that usually perches at the tops of trees. shot with Taken on Nikon z8 and Nikon 180-600mm.

Something a little lighter and hopefully more smile producing. Here are my first edits from the photo tour in the Amazon River Basin of Peru. This continues to be an amazing trip with lots of new bird species for our clients. And so far we have seen an amazing eight species of monkeys!!

Signs of spring are here! Mountain bluebirds have returned. The elk have started to drop their antlers. The Sandhill cranes are visiting Colorado. What a wonderful time of year!

Numbers are in for the most visited national parks in 2024. Rocky Mountain NP has come in at the fifth position, with 4.15 million visitors, after Great Smoky Mountains, Zion, Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. The visitation number for Rocky is a slight increase over 2023, which was 4.12 million.

Time to start a month of travel. First up is the Amazon rainforest of Peru! It will be another great adventure with hopefully pink dolphins, parrots, dart frogs and maybe the elusive jaguar??? 🤞Hopefully a baby sloth or two again as well 😁🦥

Happy Birthday, Yellowstone National Park! 🎉 You are the park that started it all. I hope they continue to be there “for the benefit and enjoyment of the people.”

I am off to co-lead a photo and bird tour in Belize in a few weeks with Wildside Nature Tours. That got me thinking about last year's trip & what amazing wildlife we saw. Here are a few new edits of the birds we saw at our second lodge on last year's trip. What would be your top bird find in Belize?

I found a pelican floating around a small pond on a drive to Louisiana recently. The keel, or horn, is starting to grow on the beak of this adult. The purpose of the hard bump is not known but is suspected to be part of attracting mates. It falls off after breeding season.

Grand Teton National Park’s 96th birthday was yesterday. Interestingly, I also came across the first photo I ever took of Grizzly 399 last night. So, I am sharing that photo with you of this amazing bear in 2012. Wow, 13 years of photographing her. Happy birthday, GTNP!! 🎉🏔️🐻

During a recent conference where I spoke about wildlife photography, I listened to many talented female nature photographers talk about seeing the landscape in different ways. I tried it a few times since then. Here are a few of the results.

An unexpected appearance by an ermine while out photographing sunset. Only brought the wide-angle lens so I missed out on a great photo opportunity but I went for my favorite kind of wildlife shot - animal in the environment. See if you can find the little critter darting around the scene.
