Pearls on the radiological diagnosis of acute mesenteric ischemia (AMI):
- CT angio -> Se 93% and Sp 95%. Ideally 3 phases
- Adynamic ileus can be the earliest finding
- Edematous bowel wall thickening is the most common sign (Se 85-88%), but is non-specific.
- Bowel can be thin in arterial AMI
