The story of how we create with AI is still unfolding.

First, it made our old workflows faster. But now the good part: fundamentally rethinking what our workflows should be.

I've been vibe-coding for the past few days and haven't had so much fun and learned so much in a long time!

Then I tried "vibe-designing" with aura.build and onlook.com - ended up being utterly disappointed. Those free credits will take you nowhere, fast.

Fellow designers, this is our time!

Had a lovely hike yesterday. Discovered a wonderful park pretty near our home. Will surely go there again!

Surprise! We've been sneakily backing up your published sites forever... just forgot the "Restore" button. Now, if you royally screw up your build, rewind to the last good version with one click.

Many people think that building a great AI tool capable of creating for the web is just about wrapping OpenAI or Anthropic APIs. Honestly, we thought so too.

But the reality couldn't be further from the truth. You need so much more than that. The number of things it has to reason about and build is

So, Figma Make is, well, fun. Not necessarily useful, but surely fun. #aifluff

Building and publishing with @webstudio.is works just as fast and smoothly at 11 km / 38000 ft altitude, on a slow and shared 12 Mbps link as it does from home (100 Mbps all to myself).

All other issues aside, there's going to be major "prompt engineering" burnout for some if not all usecases.

Having to create precise verbal instructions is way more taxing & ultimately less rewarding than browsing stock, or sketching, or talking ideas w/ a human artist, or just writing the copy.

You know you’re with your peeps when you can just say “Remember Internet Explorer 6?” and everyone is like “Oh, yeah. Fuck”.

Caffeine withdrawal symptoms are no joke!

After years of consuming copious amounts of coffee every day, I decided to stop, cold turkey.

In retrospect, I should have tapered it down over a few weeks period to avoid the headache and even worse, muscle aches.

Product design (physical) rant → Google Chromecast was designed to be plugged into a HDMI port of a TV device — hence end up hanging *behind* the TV itself — and at the same time only offer Wi-Fi connectivity.

Otherwise a pretty decent device. Once you buy an HDMI extension cable 😄

Contemplating between buying a new Android phone. A phone with a great camera looks and costs ridiculous money, or is underperforming in all other ways (Pixel line). Screw it, I'll start using my Sony RX100VA camera again! 😁

One of the best way to start the new year is with a list of great books to read! Thank you @https://merlin.rebrovic.net for https://merlin.rebrovic.net/books/recommendations/2024/

It's just sad 😔 Influencers selling their advice on "how to get ahead of 95% of people." Even when their advice is fundamentally sound, they frame it as a competition. They ask people to measure their success by comparing themselves with others. And that is the shortest path to feeling miserable.

It's just brutal how the NFL took over Christmas from the NBA. Like taking candy from a baby.

Work life goals, in no particular order:
- never have to apply for a job again,
- never have to commute to work again,
- never have to report hours again,
- no meetings that could have been an email/recording,
- never work for a salary again,
- never work on something I don't believe in again.

OK @figma.com - as a team administrator and account owner, can I please just set a hard cap on having a set number of paid seats so that new ones cannot just accidentally be added? That would mean a lot, thanks!

Starting a business on a tight budget, or simply don't want to overpay for communication tools?

For a few months now, I've been impressed by https://zoho.com/

Their email and calendar service is only $1/month and allows for using a custom domain name. I'll be trying their Meeting app next!

"Just half a pound of the stuff may remove as much carbon dioxide as a tree can". What the f**k does that even mean?

A mature tree removes ~25 kg of CO₂/year. This "new powder" is a sorbent with a capacity of 0.96 mmol/g, so that's 0.0096 kg of CO₂ per 0.5 lbs. You'd need 1305 lbs to equal a tree.
New powder that captures carbon could be ‘quantum leap’ for industry
A ‘covalent organic framework’ can be used to capture carbon to store it or convert it for industrial use

Web development, at least at low- to mid-level of complexity, used to be my Achilles heel, and now is a superpower!

All thanks to @webstudio.is - the product, the team, and the community.

Makes me wish I could just build websites all day, every day!

Which is a huge deal for a designer to say.
