Like many of you, I'm exhausted. Completely and totally. Life, unfortunately, doesn't have a pause button, so onward we go. I really wish I had the equivalent of a motivated workout buddy to keep fighting through all of this.

Yesterday Joshua took first place in computer science (coding), second place in mathematics, & will move on to what I assume is regionals. Today his robotics team is in their likely final competition (they don't expect to advance), in his final year. How quickly the time goes, how fast they grow up.

We worked for months with USAID to build an $85,000,000 project to end TB in two regions of the Philippines.

The project is funded by private money, the Philippine government, and matching USAID funds.

It could provide a blueprint for eliminating TB worldwide--except it's...not happening.

As an academic scientist I am personally worried about what this horrorshow will mean for my students and research, but as an aging human who loves lots of other humans, all of whom depend on their bodies to function correctly, the NIH stuff frightens the living crap out of me.

Here's to another day of failing forward. Keep breathing. Keep pushing. We've got this.

Did my marriage become invalidated by executive order? Same sex marriage wasn't legal in Nebraska when I was married, and now we're both legally females.

So much for the last twenty years, I guess we've been living in sin.

I keep forgetting this exists, but I'm glad it's here.
