This is a recent drawing made on a Masonite panel. I’ve been using scraps from a large very old watchmaker’s blueprint as collage elements. I love the deepness of the blue.

I got a stack of thin Masonite panels cheap from the thrift store so gave one a test run tonight. It’s been quite some time since I worked on something other than paper. It was nice to have some extra forgiveness for scratching back at paint layers.

Three Bird Poems
Sometimes I like the sameness of a new page in a book so that the variables with each drawing are reduced but other times I like what could be described as impediments or difficulties that force my hand in certain ways.

I recently re-read the full western collection of Katsuhiro Otomo’s sprawling and powerful manga Akira. I have loved comics for years but it’s still rare when one work that spans over 2000 pages doesn’t just stand up over time but shines brightly.
