I'm excited to announce I am running for Austin City Council District 5.

I’m not running for City Council to be the smartest person in the room.

I’m running to listen.

Hey @washingtonpost.com, my subscription dies when you fire your only black columnist for speaking her mind on gun violence. Later.

I wrote an op-ed for @atxfreepress.bsky.social about how the City Council seriously erred in granting a rezoning that will destroy working class housing.

Some Texas lawmakers keep repeating a discredited figure to push legislation that in other states has disenfranchised tens of thousands of citizens.

Good policy making should rest on facts, not playing fast and loose with juiced numbers.

In a discussion with Rep. Ramon Ramero, Rep. Candy Noble says she has never been worried about non-citizen voting in her 20 years as an election judge.

SB16 is a solution in search of a problem. Only citizens vote.

Tomorrow the Texas House will consider HB1794, an unnecessary and dangerous bill to widely bring guns into polling places in Texas. Legislators should reject this anti-democratic legislation. #txlege

Voter suppression disguised as "security" is still voter suppression.

HB 5337 & SB 16 aren’t about protecting democracy –– they’re about controlling it.

I’ll fight them every step of the way, because Texans deserve better.

Today, a Texas Senate committee is hearing SB16, a voter suppression bill requiring essentially a birth certificate or passport to register to vote. About 1.3 million eligible U.S. citizens in Texas lack ready access to these documents. The legislature shouldn't block eligible Americans from voting.

In the past seven weeks, Donald Trump has been hard at work on his long-standing pet project: decimating free and fair elections. And, as with the rest of the President’s calamitous agenda, he is doing it in full view of the American people.
Trump Is Still Trying to Undermine Elections
Now that Trump has installed election deniers throughout his Administration, he has been busy dismantling the guardrails protecting voting and voters.

The GOP’s new bill requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote is a solution in search of a problem. Only U.S. citizens vote, with vanishingly rare exceptions. Even though the problem is fictional, the threat of disenfranchising millions of eligible Americans is very real.

Today, Gov. Whitmer signed these 2 bills into law. Michigan is now the 20th state (+DC) to forbid open carry at polls and the 8th to prohibit all guns at counting centers. Much progress has been made on this issue since our Guns and Voting report, with new laws in CA, CO, MA, MI, NM, & VT in 2024.
