The 89th legislative session was filled with Republican extremism, culture wars, and disproven conspiracy theories — but Texas Democrats never backed down.

We fought to protect Texans' rights, defend our democracy, and pass legislation to help everyday Texans.

Here’s the recap:
My amazing daughter Parker turns 4 today!

Happy birthday little Spidey.

Texas Republicans are fueling culture wars based on lies.

They tried to lie about a school in MY DISTRICT… but I didn’t let them.

If you're going to attack Texans, you better have your facts straight.

“House Bill 4 is not about representation. It’s not about fairness.

It is a desperate, mid-decade power grab.

Engineered in Washington, executed in Austin, and paid for by the Texans we’re supposed to represent.”

Nicole Collier is a duly elected State Representative who is standing up for her constituents.

She is being detained by a party trying to silence the voice of millions of Texans.

And the American people are responding with disgrace for Greg Abbott and Texas Republicans.

Texas Democrats are fighting for the American people.

We’re against gerrymandering — period.

But if Republicans cheat, we will fight fire with fire.

Texas Republicans just filed a lawsuit to remove me from office.

They want to silence me for standing up to their power grab.

But I swore an oath to the Constitution — and I will do whatever it takes to defend it. #txlege #quorumbreak

It’s been over 24 hours since there was a bomb threat at our hotel.

❌ Greg Abbott has not disavowed political violence.
❌ Ken Paxton has not disavowed political violence.

When it’s politically tough to stand up for what’s right — it might be time to look in the mirror.

I’m John Bucy — a Texas Democrat breaking quorum to deny Trump’s power grab.

Governor Greg Abbott and President Trump are working together to rig the election and manufacture a Republican majority in congress.

Here’s what you need to know about this quorum break:

Rep. Bucy: I broke quorum because the GOP is trying to silence Austin voters

"I got to tell you, this is the second time this has happened to me. We're getting used to their bravado."

Right now, I’m on a plane to Chicago.

We’re breaking quorum because we refuse to allow Donald Trump and Governor Abbott to rig congressional maps to cling to power.

If they’re going to try to cheat — we’re going to make it hurt.

Austin is the heart of Texas progress — so of course Republicans are trying to silence us.

This new map is a blatant attack on our voice and our values.

Texans deserve leaders who fight to earn our votes, not ones who weaken our power. #redistricting

After Republican mega-donors spent millions bribing legislators, voucher scams passed this session.

This is what they bought: religious indoctrination, discounts for wealthy parents, and zero accountability.

Public dollars belong in public schools — where every child has a seat.

Special sessions are 30 days long and designed to address emergency items like this weekend’s devastating floods.

It’s not the time for culture wars or pandering to extremists.

We should focus on our emergency response systems to keep Texans safe and save the rest for 2027.

Trump said he'd "never cut Medicaid.”

But today, his priority bill slashed Medicaid by $1.1 TRILLION – leaving 11.8 million Americans without healthcare.

Republicans don’t give a shit about you.

The Republican budget moving through Congress would defund Planned Parenthood nationwide.

We saw this play out in Texas in 2021: thousands lost preventive care and reproductive services.

Defunding Planned Parenthood doesn't save money — it costs lives.

BREAKING: Despite overwhelming evidence, Texas is again seeking Robert Roberson's execution.

The witnesses recanted their stories.
The science was disproven.
The lead detective is “ashamed.”

Robert is innocent and we must do everything to stop this miscarriage of justice.

SHAMEFUL: Texas just agreed to end in-state tuition for nearly 20,000 undocumented students.

That’s 20k young people who contribute to our economy, our research, and our innovation.

HB 3879 was a backdoor attempt to silence Austin voters and derail Project Connect.

It died yesterday.

I’ll always fight for Austin and the transit future we voted for.

I want to congratulate Austin City Council for advancing a bold vision for our future.

I’ve already reached out to TxDOT to discuss their prospective funding — like they did with Klyde Warren Park in Dallas.

Austin deserves vibrant public spaces and a city that connects us.

For the first time in 10 years, Texas held a committee hearing on online voter registration.

42 states have done it. Texas should too.

HB 311 brings our democracy into the 21st century. Let’s get it done.

I just killed HB 1091 – a bill that would've thrown out legally cast ballots from seniors and disabled Texans who vote by mail.

Republicans unanimously passed these rules in 2017 – now they want to change them.

They can try to deceive Texans all they want, I won't let them. #txlege #votingrights
