I've been making these comparisons too but that doesn't capture a global superpower which was basically functioning OK to begin with. The only real point of reference I see to a global collapse like this is Gorbachev and the fall of the USSR.

No sorry it is not a bullshit norm that you don't cooperate with foreign intelligence to prosecute a political opponent. Presidents have pardon power for a reason and this fulfills that reason! Obviously notwithstanding that Trump cares about none of this stuff.
The answer to “Biden has violated a norm by pardoning Hunter” isn’t “no he hasn’t violated that norm” or “it’s justified to violate that norm” but “BULLSHIT that’s a norm.” In fact, political pardons have been offered by both Republicans and Democrats.
