yes, I was surprised to find that as well, that a good chunk of people are organizing on weekends and seeing each other quite regularly under the banner of no kings. it was a lot of activity that I had no idea existed tbh

This shouldn't lead to nostalgia about the inequalities of mid-century social welfare policy and the white family wage. Just means that we have to attend to what stats like household income don't reveal about capitalism and gender.

tldr: if you're arguing that fifty years of neoliberal policy hasn't eroded the well-being of U.S. households, then you're probably ignoring the changing dynamics of unpaid care work across decades.

Again, feminist political economists have been the ones to measure and monitor the effects of neoliberal policy on women and social reproduction work.

This doesn't begin to account for the way that neoliberalism has increased the care work burdens on women (caring for children and parents), which lead wealthier households to rely on global care chains. Poorer women tend to just get stretched even more.

Some feminist political economists like Nancy Folbre have tried to quantify the dynamics by including the market value of unpaid work into household income. This type of analysis often shows just how deeply neoliberal policy has eroded the real value of household income.

Most working class families of color in the US were locked out of the family wage.

But it is still important to understand that comparisons across decades don’t work if you’re comparing a family wage household to a dual earner household.

It's counter-intuitive but the austerity regime led to right wing electoral gains in the medium term. What's the mechanism behind this pattern?

So: Lomborg spent the 2010s pretending that he just wanted to see cheap clean energy, and is spending the 2020s attacking the hell out of it because it's cheap and accessible

Gates is just claiming all the victories of the policies he fought against as his own.

Climate vultures.

What's it like to so brazenly cave in front of such a large audience while regular people stand up and fight?

The joke about Burning Man is that it's all wealthy people these days. The post-Liberals love to focus on, what, households headed by two parents? I just don't think the notion that elites live like normative Conservatives has any truth.

Just from a descriptive standpoint, the 'elites don't practice what they preach' thesis really needs some critical exploration. It is elite professionals who have pushed psychedelic drug use into the mainstream and built an anti-prohibition coalition.
