In 2024, Europe was the world’s fastest-warming continent.

We had the hottest year on record, impacting an estimated 413,000 people. Sea surface temperatures also reached new highs.

As our planet heats up, urgent climate action is more critical than ever.

Last week week marked 20 years of the @birdlifeeurope.bsky.social @faceforhunters.bsky.social agreement.

Here are my personal thoughts about why it's been worth it and why it is still relevant.

🕊 Good News for the #TurtleDove! For the first time, Turtle Dove numbers are going up!

In the #West the population has been rising for three years, enough to reopen hunting at low levels. Now since 2024 we’re also seeing signs of recovery in the #East

The targeted change to the protection status of wolves worked procedurally. Next: Good decisions by Member States will lead to better coexistence.

🦉 Good celebration of an important cooperation between EU hunters & NGO BirdLife. It wasn't always easy, but it's overall fruitful: We all want a sky full of birds and we want the Commission to protect habitats!
