Ezra Klein's NYT column says some Senate Dems feared that the GOP would abolish the filibuster.

Handy link to some bills that would likely have become law if not for 1975 filibuster rules: DREAM Act, DISCLOSE Act, EFCA, public health insurance option, etc.

Australia will offer free solar-generated energy for hours a day from its surplus.

In 2011, the Congressional Progressive Caucus first introduced its People's Budget, which would have invested in domestic energy security over costly wars. The plan was not advanced.

Fiserv's stock is down 40% after its current CEO said that Frank Bisignano, now Social Security chief, goosed its sales numbers.

If it goes down another point, the Milwaukee Bucks will redesign the MECCA Arena downtown, replacing its current corporate sponsor.

Someone in D.C. or Detroit could ask big-business lobby Business Roundtable about their members Amazon, GM, and Target laying off tens of thousands of workers, even as they cheered the Trump-GOP budget reconciliation bill.

Mary Barra, board member of the group, what about your corporate tax cuts?

People are incensed by footage of masked ICE agents rampaging in neighborhoods!

Days before the 2020 election, the ACLU encouraged citizens to write Congress to defund ICE and CBP. But the Biden admin didn't listen to these advocates: funding for ICE increased by $400 million in FY22, then by more.

People are calling for billionaires to pay higher taxes, if Timothy Mellon (of a billionaire family) can fork over another $130 million to Trump.

Progressives proposed higher tax rates on the wealthy in 2011, after Dems got shellacked in 2010 midterms, but they're frozen out of party leadership.

The Anti-Corruption and Public Integrity Act would have barred executive branch officials from owning securities and strengthened ethics enforcement.

The bill was never given a hearing under Pelosi or Schumer. It also would have banned fundraising from lobbyists and lawmakers' stock ownership.

Now that ICE is raiding New York City, it's a chance for anyone who opposes ICE to ask their politicians if they paid attention to the April 2022 letter from 190 groups like Indivisible calling on Biden admin to reduce ICE funding, warning of domestic militarization.

After the 2008 election, there was fateful debate within Obama-world on Organizing for America's 10k grassroots members.

David Plouffe said to bring OFA under the DNC; Steve Hildebrand argued to keep it independent for pressure. Plouffe prevailed and things crashed.

Watching the home-city Brewers piece it together after a disjointed start was remarkable. Indeed, scrappy bunch, playing in the smallest MLB media market yet still with a league-median stadium attendance. Let's go again next year

Hakeem Jeffries' response in NYT article about J Street endorsing him last month. If this is the level of creativity Jeffries has absorbed from listening to Beanie, Dems might want someone else controlling the caucus' comms and fundraising arms heading into the midterms.

In 2021, Hakeem Jeffries endorsed Eric Adams number two in ranked-choice voting. So did Gregory Meeks and Ritchie Torres.

Adams was endorsed by Adriano Espaillat and Tom Suozzi, as well as current NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams. He won in the 8th round.
