Spoke with @dinfontay.com on the lobbying battle over THC drinks that's taking place in the bill to reopen the government. Mitch McConnell is not so psyched on the idea of unwinding with a hemp beverage and neither are big liquor companies and beer-makers.
Alcohol Industry Groups Push to Ban THC Drinks in Government Funding Bill
A ban on hemp-derived products with THC was added to the bill reopening the government, pitting Sen. Mitch McConnell against fellow Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, a hemp industry supporter.

Ezra Klein's NYT column says some Senate Dems feared that the GOP would abolish the filibuster.

Handy link to some bills that would likely have become law if not for 1975 filibuster rules: DREAM Act, DISCLOSE Act, EFCA, public health insurance option, etc.

NYC: would we like more urban trees and protected bike lanes?

In 2017, transit groups presented a safe-streets plan in the "Bike NYC 2020" report to the re-elected De Blasio, but NYC DOT atrophied under his perma-crisis admin. Fallen short of Streets Master Plan targets since then.

New chance now.
This is really important.

The main thing that makes it hard to achieve integrated nature and green in cities isn’t density of buildings or density of people — it's density of cars. And the more well-designed and integrated density of people & buildings you achieve, the fewer cars you need or want.

Yesterday the American Prospect reported that Schumer secretly encouraged a minority of his caucus to cave to GOP.

Schumer is backing centrist Senate candidates in several key state primaries. This year, the DSCC is again taking bundled millions from lobbyists for Palantir, crypto, and SpaceX.

Great, the Nov. 3 issue of the New Yorker has a review of a book on Kant's philosophy, which means one of the deconstructionists is right now writing a letter with some inscrutable jokes about "the frame," and a Husserlian is trying to hit the right self-depreciating note about the "bracket,"

Anyone who can text Gov. Hochul's office could ask them why not build solar and geothermal. There is no downstate NY gas shortage.

Hence, no need to build Willams Co's underwater pipeline to transport fracked gas from PA to NY.

But @governor.ny.gov approved the polluting deal after talks w/ Trump.
