Sometimes the plants in my garden that I didn’t plant are just as good as the ones I did. Senna, two species of Eremophila and a Zygophyllum (which are everywhere atm)

Ours don’t have such luxury - their “Chicken Palace” (a commercial product -out of sight in this shot) has some wooden perches and wood shavings on the floor. Still better off than battery hens though ;-)

Supposedly some rain coming - won't be enough, but it could be a start.

Both I'd say. We've had record low rainfall for a 12 month period. Whyalla would normally get an average of 275mm annually (so we are officially semi-arid to start with), but for the last 12 months we've only had 153mm. Pelted down on Saturday for several minutes - we got 0.4mm.

We’ve had a Goshawk hang around for a while before, a young Osprey visited one morning, and we had a Kestrel sleep in our garaport, but this one has me stumped. It wasn’t very big, I thought it was a Red Wattle Bird at first.

Sandy, you’ll probably know. What’s this on my back lawn today? Sorry for quality, it’s a zoomed phone photo, I didn’t want to disturb him as he was obviously very hot. He got under the sprinkler later.

The Bullock Bushes in our chook yard have just started fruiting - soon they will be covered in red and black as the seed pods burst open.

Here's today's efforts - the issues in Whyalla have nothing to do with renewable energy or gas shortages and I suspect that some of those residents (who I know) would be horrified at how their quotes have been woven into this propaganda piece.

It's in the Advertiser as well. I can't see any evidence of it being advertising, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

I was wondering why the bull ant on the ground in front of me was snapping its pincers as it ran. On closer inspection, it wasn’t an ant at all. I wish I could have got a more natural looking shot, but she wasn’t very cooperative!
