Yes, it's foolish to say the rebuild is over until size and grit is added to the abundance of skill. That's the easier part with a talented core. Goaltending is also not of championship calibre but that's not the biggest issue now. #Habs had best goalie for years with little talent in front of him.

Moribund powerplay was the difference tonight versus Boston. On the positive side, a better overall team effort and Davidson had a strong debut with four shots.

Agree on Slafkovsky. He should be an asset going forward because of his size but he's used that inconsistently both along the boards and in the slot. He needs to think faster with the puck. Demidov would add exceptional skill on the top line though the #Habs would lose the size advantage of Slaf.

#Habs went from one of their best overall outings of the season to arguably their worst. It was a foreshadowing, perhaps, that they couldn't muster anything on the two-man advantage in the first period. They were beaten in all aspects of the game. Need a 60-minute effort versus Dallas.

Goaltender competition is great, Dobes looking the strongest and most confident so far. Demidov was drafted fifth.

I'm not on the Montembeault hate bandwagon and generally like his play but he was weak on the last two goals. Overall, #Habs let their foot off the gas after going up by two goals. Better not do that against Buffalo on Monday.

Great episode!

Great summary, and agreed not much to be concerned about in this game. Dobes was outstanding and the #Habs skated the Wings into the ice much of the night. I'm loving Bolduc and Kapanen already. Slafkovsky played more like he needs to, as well. Hopefully second half Slaf gets it going in first half.

Well, we know who should wear the hockey pants in your house!

Not nearly fast enough.

All good for the Oilers to win, as long as it wasn't the Leafs being Canada's hope. We'd never hear the end of it if they won.

Good point though most hockey players haven't gone beyond high school education and probably aren't aware of the breadth of world issues and the concerns around the likes of Gretzky and Orr.

Thankfully I didn't hear MacLean make that comment directly or I would have destroyed my TV. Of all the stupid and inane comments, he's ever made, that has to be the worst. Beliveau was the elegant No. 4. Matthews is the overhyped Thirty-FORE!
