“You’ve gotta be squeaky clean on antisemitism“ is another phrase that’s going to writhe around moaning in my head for a while.

The full on horse-race-ification of political discourse is distorting our moral sensibilities, redirecting them to places where they do no good.

Saw this ginormous beauty of a sweet potato at the farmers’ market today and had to get it. Nearly one full dogmatics long!

Baseball is such a perfect alternative to all the other good sports because it’s the only one where you can read your theology book without missing a thing.

Higher education may be dismantled, but rest assured that preschool education is in fine form. Very proud of my 4yr old for contributing “mini golf” to her class’ list of learning aims for the year.

The NY Times and LA Times current headlines are about two different mass shootings. We’re not doing well here.

Hearteningly large and diverse coalition at the No Kings rally in Nashville today. Even the Bible-thumpers had our say.

Enjoyed the evening yesterday in a state park with the animals more at peace in human proximity than just about anywhere I’ve experienced (including this park previously). A hawk 50ft away, a heron 20ft, a deer 10ft—each just chilling. (The hawk flew after a couple minutes; the others saw me off)

Still stunned by how perfectly this quote from the MN legislature—refusing healthcare to those considered the wrong people—misses the entire point by refusing one part of it.

Love your neighbor *as yourself* is as “in this instance, specifically” as it gets.

This is, I believe, a broad headed skink that visited us today. Some kind of skink anyway—a family of creatures that made it very strange to move to Scotland and find a sort of soup called Cullen Skink. Delicious. A favorite Scottish dish. But it sounds like a lizard.

Tonight. I can hardly believe it, but Paul Simon is playing live on stage in just a few hours, and Meredith and I will be there.

My very normal car has 5 seats, is comfortable for long legged folks like me, hauls 10’ boards, handles family camping trips with a big cooler and all our bikes (with a tiny glimpse left out the back). But it looks like an absolute toy amongst the other parents’ vehicles at the elementary school.

This beautiful little creature has been feasting on clover in our backyard for several days. To celebrate earth day, it delighted my 4yr old by hanging out on the welcome mat while we ate lunch inside.
