18th book of the year

An old biography of Messi I found in a charity shop. Obviously out of date but interesting to look back at how Messi was viewed 13-14 years ago

17th book of the year

Another Discwotld book, the 17th in the series. In large part, exactly what you expect from Pratchett. Funny, entertaining, with many 'what ifs' from hour world taken into another

16th book of the year

First read this excellent book by @simonkuper.bsky.social many years ago. Re-reading it now, it's a fascinating series of snapshots of almost a bygone era. So much has changed since then that it might be as fascinating to re-vist them all today

Not sure what to make of this but.... City's last 4 league wins vs United, all the goals from Haaland and Foden 🤔 #ManCity

15th book of the year

The 16th Discworld novel. Much better than the last couple of Discworld books, a very amusing tale featuring the absurdities of many 20th music cultures

14th book of the year

Another SF classic. One of those that amazes me how well it stands up today given that it was written in the 1950's

13th book of the year

The 15th discworld book, the usual Pratchett stuff but lacked a little for me. Decent, but not his best work

3 years ago (give or take a few days) I was at one of the greatest sporting events I've been at. Hoping for a similar result later today #Lionesses #WEuro2025

12th book of the year

A decent read but doesn't really say anything new. It's essentially someone looking back and reminiscing now he's the only one left.

11th book of the year

Quite simply - a science fiction classic

10th book of the year

@jonawils.bsky.social is a great football writer and this is his 1st novel. A good story but while reading it, it felt like he had a football book he wanted to write but couldn't, so decided to disguise it as a novel. And sadly it didn't work for me because it felt like that

9th book of the year

Another Discworld book, the 14th of that series. The usual amusing tale from Pratchett but for me it was just more of the same, good but nothing new. The first in that series for a while thats felt that way

The great Richie Benaud put it nicely...

8th book of the year

This is a behind the scenes look at the first 7 years of Guardiola's time at @mancity.com. A lot in here and some fascinating detail. Marti Perenau obviously has incredible access but the question always lingers about what has been left out to protect that access?
