Delighted that our Independent Review of Greenhouse Gas Removals has now been published. It was chaired by Dr. Alan Whitehead and staffed by a small, dedicated, secretariat, all of whom deserve great credit for achieving so much in a short period of time.

The amount of global installed renewable power capacity increased by 14% last year (extra 582GW!).

It's not quite on track for the tripling by 2030 that nations agreed at COP28 in Dubia two years ago, but it's pretty damn good.

While extremes are the new norm, it's important to realise that this level of warming is not - the world will keep on heating up and becoming more and more extreme, until we hit net zero CO2 emissions.

State of UK climate from the @metoffice.gov.uk shows that summer temperature extremes are changing twice as fast as average temperatures, winters are getting wetter, sea level rise is accelerating, and wildlife is being impacted across the whole country.

I remember the first time I encountered that the regulatory mechanism/DNO modelling had to assume that a co-located BESS (with PV) would be exporting at solar peak (i.e. a worst case scenario) - obviously absolutely mad, and maddening.

Good to see the DESNZ policy paper action on this.
