Back in Vietnam, this time w/Susan!

Walking in Tam Coc on a rainy day, we found the purr-fect place for a coffee:

Anyone in the Washington D.C. area looking for a fall reset/expansion of the way they approach their photography would do well to consider this six-week course. I’ve known @billcrandall.com for 30 years; he brings a wealth of experience to this program.

Me listening to my right-wing family members explain that they’re not political, they just voted for Trump because of the economy.

So tempted. No idea what I’d use it for, but the nostalgia is palpable.

I’m downstairs now.

Today’s lunch is crispy roast pork belly over rice, with some cucumber and a light chicken soup.: $3.22.

I’m could eat this meal 3x/week.

Spending my post-checkout time exploring Siam Paragon, a high-end, design-forward mall in Bangkok.

Seen here: Gentle Monster, a sunglasses store that is a wee notch above the Sunglass Hut in my local mall.

A rainy last day in BKK, en route back home.

Was an experiment to head to SE Asia in the rainy season. Result: lush greens, fewer crowds, incredible bargain. 10/10, would repeat

Please allow me to introduce my new friend. Gertrude is a Giant African Pouch Rat. She spends 5 hours a day detecting land mines in Cambodia.

Gertrude, needless to say, is awesome. 🏆 🐀

This is an amazing program, that you can learn more about (and support!) here:

Traveler math: flying 8,810 miles, to save $20 with a $3 haircut in Siem Reap.

My ride this week: a well-worn Honda Dream.

Speedo: not work
Gas gauge: same
Shifter: iffy
Slips heavily in 4th
Suspension: no suspense
Saddle: a tailbone killer

That said, there’s no abuse this bike can’t take.

100 miles today, riding right up to one archeological wonder after another.

🇰🇭 ❤️

Yes, they’re cute. But also smart little thieves. They especially love smartphones, which they ransom for treats.

I shoo’ed this little teenage asshole away when he tried to go through my bag. He immediately went to my friend Ash’s bike, where he tried to steal the keys from the ignition.

If there’s a better day than exploring the temple ruins of the Angkor complex in Cambodia on motorbikes, I’m all ears. ‘Cause, WOW.
