NB’s Minister of Housing | Ministre de Logement
MLA for Saint John Harbour | Dép de Saint John Harbour
Very sorry to learn of Ivan Court's passing. Ivan served as the 65th Mayor from 2008 to 2012, he was also a teacher and profound family-man. He was a great believer in the potential of our community - he will be missed.

My thoughts are with Ivan's family.

We’re freezing your property assessment value for 2026 so that it won’t increase next year.

While we continue our work to create a more predictable and fair property tax system, we’re taking action now to provide you with some stability.

Lots of traveling today, beginning in Moncton with Minister Miles to tour the MacDonald Centre for Independent Living. A quick layover in Fredericton to meet with the province’s non-profit housing executives. And then joining Premier Holt in Nackawic to visit the town’s newest housing development.

We have signed an agreement with the federal government to better support people without homes in Saint John, including those living in encampments.

Funding will help provide immediate support to people without homes and help to address long-term housing needs.

Trump tariffs matter for Saint John, in fact they matter the most in the entire country.

They want us to misstep, knowing the devastating consequences they will have on communitiesties like ours. I'm glad to have @susanholtnb.bsky.social taking the exact right steps for us in Washington this week.

Proud to join Susan Holt and some of our team last night at the State of the Province.

It was a chance to layout our plan for the next four years.

🏗️ 24,000 new homes built (30k by 2029)
🏘️ Triple the number of new affordable homes
🏡 Cut chronic homelessness in half

Saint John's cherished 200 year old Stone Church at last night’s Gala. Engaging speakers, new friends made, delicious dinner graciously sponsored by Thandi’d Restaurant. A time was had by all. The love and labour was evident. @bobmcvicar.bsky.social The Rev. Jasmine Chandra @davidhickey.bsky.social

In Moncton, I met with Rising Tide to discuss their affordable housing projects and explore how the provincial government can support their initiatives.

Appreciate the thoughtfulness from a policy perspective of also targeting the sales tax on new multi-unit dwellings and thinking through capital improvements that are necessary.
