Helen is saying that the one concession we were trying to get, that only an idiot would think that had a chance of success. That's simply not true. Democrats had power in the negotiations that was growing every day until these feckless Senators gave up in exchange for nothing. This is not a win.

The self-assured condescension in this is unwarranted. The substance and tone of this little screed is everything wrong with Dem leadership right now. It's not enough to screw over working class Democrats for their Wall St donors. They always do it with a dismissive sneer.

Ha ha ha "big girl panties." OK thanks for the levity but what benefit do we get from capitulating again? Making sure voters understand that Republicans want to be cruel is not a win. We've known that. They are teaching voters that Democrats stand for nothing.

Tomatoes tend to like a lot of heat, so the plants usually die back earlier in the fall. These guys are still cranking though. I'll probably do some fried green tomatoes. I doubt we'll get these to ripen.
