"There is no thing worth nuclear war. But Winston Churchill said it brilliantly when he said that war is horrible, slavery is worse." He says basically if we allow a Soviet-backed government in Oman to blockade the Strait of Hormuz, "freedom will die."

It's basically a long simulated newscast about a Middle East crisis triggered by a Soviet-backed coup in Oman, with a very young Scott Glenn playing a reporter embedded on a U.S. aircraft carrier. But the most fascinating part of this movie is that it features a young Newt Gingrich (!) as himself...

So A House of Dynamite has sent me down a leeeetle bit of a nuclear war movie rabbit hole, and I just watched one that I not only had never seen but had never even heard of: an early HBO original movie called "Countdown to Looking Glass" (1984)

Was reading Peppa Pig to my two year old and she pointed to a picture of a landline and asked “what’s dat” and I said “that’s a phone” and she laughed and laughed and laughed and said “Oh Daddy” the way she does when she thinks I’m obviously joking or lying.

The idea that the they/them ad shifted the entire 2024 race 2.7 points to the right, repeated uncritically by Jonathan Chait today in The Atlantic, is based on a single unreleased (and thus un-examinable) analysis by a Harris-aligned SuperPAC.

Sorry are we supposed to pretend that Bret Stephens didn't contact @davekarpf.bsky.social's provost to try to get him fired for a joke in the bad old days of (imagined) left-wing-only cancel culture?

Let me get this straight: As the president tries to bankrupt his own employer with a frivolous, $15 billion lawsuit, America's most influential liberal columnist emerges from hiding to co-sign the idea that criticizing Charlie Kirk's work is tantamount to celebrating his murder?

Trump's approval with 18-29 year-olds is -37 points, which is 24 points to the left of the overall sample. Many surveys have shown his sharpest declines among this group.

Klein said it in his atrocious piece yesterday. Carlos Lozada repeated it today. The other major validated voter study, by Catalist, did show a slightly bigger shift among this group, with their data showing 17.5 points to the left in 2020 and 12 in 2024.

One piece of Charlie Kirk discourse that is hardening into lazy conventional wisdom is "young voters swung sharply right in 2024." The Pew validated voter analysis -- the gold standard - shows 18-29 year-olds voted 21.5 points to the left of the electorate in 2020 and 20.5 in 2024.
