We were kindred spirits from the get-go, kamikaze-shooting spontaneous scenes with reckless abandon as we ran all over New York City like a couple of miscreants.

That feeling reminded me of Hitchcock’s North By Northwest. From one escape to the next, there’s never time for Cary Grant or the audience to recover. This was my first time working with director Alice Teeple, and she quickly embraced and captured that feeling.

At the time I wrote “If We Could Escape,” my life felt like it had permanently shifted into a new gear, a non-stop roller coaster. Getting off the ride for even a few minutes to catch my breath was a luxury that was simply no longer available to me.

Eric Crittenden, Jeff Miers, Nate Kalnitz, Billy Wachowiak, Miranda Shulman, and Zak Ward and The Million Dollar Question. The release of Red Sky Warning is a powerful experience for me, and this concert is yet another watermark.

You’d think I would have been disheartened, but as an artist I felt vindicated. These songs needed more from me for the art to be right. I rebuilt my studio, upgraded my equipment, and started over from scratch. The art is the only thing that ever matters.

As an artist, I know how good it feels to get the music-making part right. The response I’ve gotten sharing it with all of you has reminded me of WHY I make music in the first place. Love and gratitude to everyone listening!
