Oops. Misunderstood that, thanks. I guess the first question would be to what extent special forces need to be coordinated with the other activities of an area command.

But by the definition of SOCOM you've given it clearly *is* area-based. If you abolish SOCOM, who takes responsibility for operations in Latin America?

You still need an organisation that thinks about how to do operations in a particular area, makes plans, etc. and there are advantages to that also being the organisation that would implement the plans. What would your constant commands be like, if not area-based?

I think the strongest argument against SF, and elite units generally, might be the negative impact on the regular army of recruiting the best infantry into SF.

The only thing that could make it more difficult for the prosecutor would be if there were many recent cases of the executive giving orders that federal judges had stated were illegal.

They list schizophrenia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism, and bipolar disorder. I'd say from my understanding of Hitler that's "I don't see it", "No", "Of course not, don't be an idiot," and "Yeah, maybe." Not much of a record.
