Today is National Loving Day. On June 12, 1967, the SCOTUS overturned laws forbidding interracial marriage. Mildred & Richard Loving were married in Virginia in June of 1958 & were arrested in July. They were forced to leave Virginia, & eventually filed suit, which led to the ruling 9 years later…

1. May 4, 1886: The Haymarket Incident.
I do not remember learning about the history of the Haymarket Incident or about organized labor when I was in high school. I learned about it and multiple other stories of class conflict when I read "Lies My Teacher Told Me"…

He said,
"The oppressors do not favor promoting the community as a whole, but rather selected leaders."

On April 30, 2016, Father Daniel Berrigan died. He was a Jesuit priest and pacifist whose protest of the Vietnam War (burning draft cards) landed him on the FBI’s “Most Wanted” list and, in 1970, in prison.

“people across the world are united in wanting action to fight the climate crisis but remain a silent majority, because they wrongly think only a minority share their views.”

Today is Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, and marks the day in 1915 when the Ottoman Empire began rounding up Armenian leaders—scientists, clergy, politicians, and teachers—and deporting them.

The photo below from wikipedia shows people waiting for "deportation" which turned into a massacre.

One of the oldest scriptures in the Bible is essentially Miriam singing, "…and the horse you rode in on" (Exodus 15:21).

“Sing to the Lord, for he has triumphed gloriously;
horse and rider he has thrown into the sea.”

1/4 Monday is the feast day of Oscar Romero, who was gunned down by fascist death squads for advocating for the poor and calling out human rights abuses. Here is a prayer he wrote:
This is what we are about. We plant the seeds that one day will grow.

This kind of headline is so misleading. They pay less taxes as a percentage of their income than you, but they are so obscenely richer than you that it’s always going to be a bigger “share.” Just like 10% of the Sun is more “share” of the solar system than 30% of the Earth.

Can you think of anything more asinine, more Dunning-Kruger like, than asking people doing critical or top secret work, to take time out of their week to explain to a non-expert what they do? And isn’t reporting to TWO supervisors the very opposite of efficiency?

3/4🧵 In this example, misinformation and the media are treated as the same thing, essentially agreeing with the Orange Fuhrer's use of the term "fake news." These bastards are subtle, and they shy away from specifics. They will pretend to be on your side, but they are wolves in sheep's clothing.
