Spanning the River Tees at Stockton in NE England, the public pedestrian/cycle crossing known as 'Infinity Bridge' is a great place to catch a sunset composition at this time of the year.

Sunderland's Backhouse Park in NE England, transformed into a winter wonderland. Winter officially still four weeks away as temperatures across the UK struggled to get much above freezing. At least some people were determined to make the most of it.

Golden hues on Durham Cathedral as the sun finds a gap in otherwise leaden skies at the end of a November day.
One of my favourite go-to viewpoints to frame this ancient Norman edifice, part of the Durham UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Going to miss the autumn colours and definitely not looking forward to the drop in temperatures next week in the UK.
This photograph, capturing the autumn season in all its glory, was taken in the Derwent Valley near Rowlands Gill, North East England.

St Peter's Church, Monkwearmouth, Sunderland in North East England, pictured on a wet November evening. The building's west wall and lower part of the tower date back to AD674, when this location was part of an early Benedictine monastic site.

A bridge across the Ouseburn, in Jesmond Dene, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Still plenty of seasonal colour half way through November.
We have Lord Armstrong and his wife to thank for landscaping the dene during the 19th century.

Love this Armistice Day tribute!
Worth keeping your eyes peeled if you're travelling along Ryhope Road, south of Grangetown in Sunderland in North East England.

Seaham Harbour's 'Tommy' by local sculptor Ray Lonsdale, sits overlooking the North Sea on the Durham coastline of North East England.
I doubt there could be a more poignant focal point for today's act of remembrance.

The Victoria Viaduct, spanning the River Wear at Fatfield in North East England. Opened 1838, it's now more than 60 years since passenger trains last crossed. Hope is the bridge will again open to passenger traffic as part of an extension to the Tyne & Wear Metro.

Grabbing a little more autumnal colour before it all disappears.
Rich golden hues here of fallen leaves carpeting the woodland floor near Sunderland Bridge at Croxdale, south of Durham as a burst of late afternoon sunshine added a bit of sparkle.

Feeling unseasonably mild this afternoon on a wander this around Roker in Sunderland. It might have been overcast, but temperatures were nudging 18°C, which for 5 November is positively balmy.

Still plenty of leaves waiting to fall, although it is fast getting to that point in the season when there is more leaf cover on the ground than up on the trees. This autumnal scene was captured in Sunderland's Backhouse Park, North East England.

Built in 1975 as the MV 'Dayspring', this boat was wrecked in a storm in 2011 on the shores of Loch Linnhe, Scotland, near Fort William. Britain's highest mountain at 1,345 metres (4,413 ft), Ben Nevis makes for an arresting backdrop.

This is the Ouse Burn, which gives the 'Ouseburn' area of Newcastle its name. This final stretch of the burn making its way past large Grade II listed 19th century industrial buildings, on its way to join the River Tyne.

A couple out walking along the riverside footpath near Fatfield, Sunderland. The colours associated with the season given greater vibrancy thanks to some late afternoon sunshine. You can almost hear the rustle of fallen leaves underfoot along the path!

On the Gibside estate, in the valley of the River Derwent in North East England. Used the edge of Gibside Chapel to partially eclipse the strong autumnal sunlight. A big place to explore, the property is in the care of the National Trust.

Love this – a painting inspired by a photograph I took just before the Covid pandemic, late 2019, of waves crashing against Seaburn Promenade in Sunderland, North East England. The work of Diane Bell, who runs an art group at Boldon Community Centre.

A bit of a damp autumnal scene by the River Wear at Croxdale, just south of Durham in North East England. The viaduct carries the East Coast Main Line connecting London's, Kings Cross with Edinburgh's Waverly railway stations.

I mentioned Sunderland's new pedestrian/cycle bridge yesterday and posted a photograph I'd taken from the deck. Worth also highlighting the new perspectives that Keel Crossing now affords. Sunrise on the day the clocks go forward!

Built in the 14th century by the powerful Neville family, Raby Castle near Staindrop, County Durham, is undoubtedly one of the most impressive castles in the North of England (and there's a few on the list!).

A view from Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, South West England. A beach where the tide doesn't just go out, it does a disappearing act! The low tide mark in Weston Bay can be more than a mile out from the seafront shelter where I took this photograph.

Looking across the River Wear from Cox Green, Sunderland, to the site of the former Barmston Ferry landing. A footbridge replaced the ferry in the 1950's and these days, most of those who use it are people out and about exercising and exploring the riverside footpaths.

Just 3 weeks till Lumiere 2025, in Durham, North East England. Since it began in 2009, the event has pulled in around 1.3 million visitors not to mention boosting the local economy to the tune of some £43 million. Sadly though, this one's the last!

Low tide at Seaburn, Sunderland in North East England. As the season of autumn progresses, I like the way the low altitude sun is glinting through the cloud cover and illuminating the channel of water and seaweed.
