I've been thinking that if LLMs existed in 1934, prompts asking about Reconstruction would probably elicit output trained largely on Dunning School writings and Birth of a Nation. Luckily modern LLMs can't reproduce such bias 🙃

I am in a Facebook group where people ridicule AI slop. Someone shared a Sora video in which Hitler was giving a TED Talk about how he was forced into World War II by the Poles & the Brits. I reported it & FB said it was not "hateful." Also, Sora apparently has no qualms producing vids with Hitler.

Are there any examples my academic followers on here know about of *student* resistance to the use of LLMs, among undergrads or graduate students?

Yes, It's Fascism
It’s not an omen or threat or hint of fascism—it’s the thing itself.

RIP Dartmouth v. Woodward?
NEW: The Trump administration wants federal supervision of Columbia University—a consent decree—which could last for years and subject the university to contempt penalties if it doesn't conform to Trump admin demands. www.wsj.com/us-news/educ...

I am also teaching in a summer study abroad program this summer, and I have the exact same worries.
With the exception of the pandemic, US schools used to cancel study abroad b/c being THERE was “unsafe,” for whatever reason. Now they’re canceling it b/c it’s unsafe HERE. Not leaving the country that makes you unsafe because you may not be able to reenter—dystopian www.wbur.org/news/2025/03...
Bunker Hill Community College cancels study abroad programs over Trump immigration actions
Bunker Hill Community College canceled all planned study abroad programs for the summer. School leaders made the decision in response to the Trump Administration's immigration policies.

Horrible. As a past recipient of a Fulbright scholarship, as well as an educator who has touted the Gilman scholarship to my own students (who tend to come from disadvantaged backgrounds) this really hits home.
Many Fulbright scholars say they feel stranded after the Trump administration suspended their funding
Fulbright scholars were among those in programs administered through the U.S. State Department who learned their funding has been frozen.
