Leeds’ Nervous Twitch playing one of their three chords on stage in York last night. Much better than a dull AOR-inspired Darling Buds.

#1 in a series of mix tapes recorded with love for a friend in Scotland. All of the Messthetics CD releases are essential, but I can’t shake the feeling that they’re better suited to cassette.

Saw them in 83 at Brannigans, shortly after moving to Leeds then not again til tonight, supported by the mighty Hard Skin, a band that nicks the Blitz typography/sound in an echo of 1982. Looking forward to it, but don’t know how I’m going to adjust to watching a GBH without their trademark spikes.

The first time I saw G.B.H. back in 1982. The only things I remember clearly are the huge hall, shitty sound, sparce crowd for the size of the venue and Blitz siddling on and blowing the place apart. They were jaw-droppingly brilliant, a brick wall of noisy tuneage, even with the muddy sound 1/2

This poster for Gang Of Four, Mekons and Human League at the Factory, designed by the late, great Tony Wilson, is just fab.

XTC - Go 2 LP. Part genius, part taking the piss, not quite accurate in it’s execution, but brilliant all the same.

Now this is what I call a proper gig ticket.
