Idle Hands and City
Pep was probably just hoping we’d have enough to keep it tight and maybe the players he brings on make the difference instead of chasing lost cause. Not the time for a classic “two half chances, concede two goals” game tbh.

Anyone who says we should rotate in PL has forgotten this mad CL format. We’re basically already through. Even the extra qualifying game isn’t necessary a bad thing, PSG showed it’s all about momentum last season.

I like how wound up the players and Pep were at the end at least. None of the accepted dejection from last season.

I think his problem is he thinks he can play any position on the pitch all at the same time. Not sure if he’s just got the ego captain marvel thing, or he genuinely doesn’t have the discipline to hold his position. Properly detrimental to this England team though. Leave him on the bench.

Feels a bit like Foden these days. And I remember the same with SWP and England. I think maybe some players need that unconditional love of their fans to attempt things on the pitch knowing it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t come off. International football the opposite of that.

Also feels like it should be pointed out Grealish statistically isn’t achieving any more dribbles than he did at City (pretty much exactly the same per min as his first two seasons at City) he just didn’t play much last couple seasons. Really needs to stop being the poster boy for “new freedom”.

And look who’s taking it. He needs to be out dead ball guy…just not sure how he fits in the current team aside from when Doku is rested.

Marmoush has that quality right? Just had KDB/gundo here last season and injury this season. Hopefully he’ll find his Frankfurt rhythm for free kicks soon.

It’s all on whether anyone can put enough distance between us. But you’d say even Arsenal aren’t currently romping. So if we can keep it close their 1 goal wins can easily get shakey once the pressures on.

This feels very much like a “if we can stay in touch till the New Year” Pep season. Even last year he got a tune out of them in the run in. This year feels like he’s already figuring some stuff out. Yesterday was a lesson not just another baffling loss (like last season).

Yeah it’s a weird thing of allowing pressure on way more and offering up chances…but keeping way more clean sheets and in hindsight not really being troubled. Almost like they’ve decided these deeper chances vs losing transitions/facing counters is the lesser of two evils. So far can’t complain.

You think they’re just messing around with all that football teqball stuff from the videos but Bernie can basically pinpoint any header because of it.
