Carbonara with spaghettoni (thicc spaghetti). With Pecorino Romano and Grana Padano and of course guanciale. Started by toasting some Tellicherry peppercorns. "Cheated" by using a stabilizer (corn starch), and man that made life easy to get a consistently creamy sauce!

Watched Mickey 17 last night, I really think Bong Jun Ho movies in English (Snowpiercer, Okja) lose... something. Like they're a lot more in your face about the messenging. Still very good movies, and fantastic acting my the mains, but don't get to Parasite, Memories of Murder, or Mother levels

Watched Mickey 17 last night, I really think Bong Jun Ho movies in English (Snowpiercer, Okja) lose... something. Like they're a lot more in your face about the messenging. Still very good movies, and fantastic acting my the mains, but don't get to Parasite, Memories of Murder, or Mother levels

물회, mul-hwe, spicy raw fish (and abalone) salad with veg and chojang. Add cold (iced!) beef broth and rice or noodles. Great for this sticky ass weather I'm having in Daegu rn (and why I don't like coming here in May) 👌Also, like $38 for 3 people including an order of tonkatsu I added!

In Rotterdam today, last day in Europe, about to fly to Korea until almost June. Been here (Brussels actually) a week on bidness, will be working remotely in Korea for a while, but mostly just happy to be out of the States for as long as I can finagle it 🙄

My reading really drops off this time of year. Last year was BG3, no real reason for it this year. Also, peep those pagecounts per book--I was reading a lot of Brandon Sanderson, Stephen Erikson, 1200 page doorstoppers

Finished my taxes, and just as a PSA, Cash.app has free tax prep & filing. I went through the whole thing in about an hour, turned out I had one li'l complication, went to TaxAct instead (another hour) and got mostly the same result. Most people will be able to use cashapp.

Amtrak canceled my train to Chicago (engine maintenance), so now driving to catch a late show, and just gonna drive back and hope not to die. This country hates train travel so fucking much, because who wants to relax in a comfortable seat, maybe get some work done, when you can fight traffic?
