In the same vein that X is always a distraction from Y in Trumpland, the Senate atm is a distraction from the House.
The Trump takedown everyone wants was never going to happen in the Senate anyway.
If anything, at least Schumer confirming his own impotence may get the result he never could.

This way at least the shutdown/ACA/Epstein fuss can be sorted out into three discrete problems over one huge mess. Resolves the shutdown & federal paychecks. Healthcare remains winnable, and really no more tenuously so than yesterday.
And it forces Johnson to make another play re: Epstein.

People want pols to take down Trump and we see the cave for the concession it is, but going back to the absence of a plan, disappointment was inevitable.
Trump controls the press, the charges of Dem obstruction were only going to get louder & the good guys were only going to keep bowing to fear.

There are two things, healthcare and Jeffrey Epstein.
The subsidies question is being punted, but I can't imagine this leadership has ever had an actual plan for victory so probably better to rip that band-aid right off.
Johnson having to swear in the full House however is Epstein territory.

I suspect you would run unopposed on that platform, what with government so busy waiting for the morally ambiguous theatrical reboot of Schoolhouse Rock.

*if the ACA vote fails and folks get hosed on insurance, likely outcome is an electoral fire sale in 2026. If the Left is lucky, voters will target institutions.
If they're not, they'll go after incumbents across the board and who knows how the cards will fall 🤷
