Besides the health issues, I dislike soda with corn syrup because it's just too --well -- syrupy. I've cut down soft drinks a lot since my youth, but if I do drink any, it's only "Mexican" (real cane sugar) Coke for me. So this would be great if it were true, but I doubt it is.

Republicans of course have been trying to gut PBS and NPR since Nixon. Mister Rogers' famous testimony to Congress basically saved PBS in the 60-70's
But it's been downhill since. The fact that PBS actually has mini-commercials now is because their funds have been cut so severely already.

Yes! It's not primarily (as some folks claim) because Sesame Street used to have a character that was a parody of Trump. (Though that may be part of it too, knowing how fragile Trump's ego is...)

I'm American, and I know no one who thinks she should run again. AOC and others like her are much more popular now. And the pro-Palestinian Zohran won the primary for New York City mayor. The neoliberal, Israel-can-do-no-wrong wing of the Democratic Party is waning fast.

The whole problem with high school English lit of course is that MOST kids at that age don't have the capacity to appreciate good writing. We just weren't there emotionally yet.

I'm thinking now of the scene in the old movie "Bachelor Mother" where Ginger Rogers and David Niven are feeding a baby, and the book says, "Rub oatmeal into baby's navel" and David doesn't question it. He's RFK Jr. in that scene. (SPOILER ALERT: Two of the book's pages were stuck together.)
