I've been waiting for years for moonrise to line up like this over downtown Milwaukee from this spot, eight miles away, so long that I pretty much forgot about it. Not sure why I thought to look for the time and location today, but I'm glad I did.

In Crandon, Wisconsin, there’s a country band playing in the middle of the afternoon on a side street after a Labor Day parade. Who joins in but @nascar.com truck champ Mike Skinner. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Messing around with the Milky Way in northern Wisconsin. I predict I'll have something better by the end of the weekend.

Aurora borealis with star trails in northern Wisconsin (coincidentally not far from a town named Aurora).

Some scenes just don't make sense, like a Scottish Highland cow peeking out of the spruce trees along the edge of a farm field in northern Wisconsin.

Talked with NASCAR champ Kyle Larson recently about a number of topics, including the Chicago street race. tinyurl.com/3zpppxmr
Whatever happens with Chicago, Kyle Larson wants NASCAR to keep street racing and reaching new fans
If the Chicago street race goes away, Kyle Larson will miss it. He’d take Chicagoland back but also wants to visit new markets and temporary circuits.

IndyCar driver parks his car, asks for a beer and celebrates with Road America fans
Who could blame Santino Ferrucci for wanting a beer after a long, hot race? Wisconsin race fans were happy to oblige.

Hey, as long as we're building that motorsports community, let's have a couple of photos from High Limit Racing sprint cars at Wisconsin's 141 Speedway, a track I hadn't visited until my 36th season of covering racing in the state.

Not sure there's much of an auto racing presence here so I rarely share that here (self-fulfilling prophecy, right?) but this is one of those stories that transcends a particular sport. It's a win for the little guy and could be one of the feel-good stories of the year in racing.
A Wisconsin diesel tech beat the best in Kyle Larson's sprint car series for $26,000. Why not?
He just wanted to push himself against the best. Travis Arenz of Sheboygan Falls pulled off a $26,000 sprint car upset at 141 Speedway.
