We walked to the Remembrance Day ceremony here in Victoria BC. A piper played "The Flowers of the Forest," the traditional lament played here by RCAF Corporal Timothy Reid.

My dad had wanted to join the air force, but they said at 26 he was on the old side. He re-joined an outfit he'd left five years before, and spent the war years in Halifax.

RCMP members who served in the war became eligible for the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal in 2003.

I checked. Tommy Tuberville, a man with the legislative skill of two cups of cornflakes, managed all by himself to hold up senior military promotions for ten months.

The gang of eight couldn't manage as well.

Tommy Tuberville single-handedly held up senior military promotions for TEN MONTHS. Couldn't Durbin be at least as effective as a mediocre coach who couldn't name the three branches of government?

I thought it went well, at least the parts a lapsed cradle Catholic could grasp. FWIW I can hear echos of Hayim Halevy Donin in the thread. (I took two courses under him at the Jesuit-run U of Detroit, when he was rabbi at B’nai David in Southfield MI.)

The majority operates under the mandate of Leo while bowing in the faux-gold direction of the least fit person to ever set foot in the White House, not excluding drunks and the soldiers who torched the place in 1814.
