An unexpected danger of making your little kids pancakes in shapes they request (dinosaur! robot!) is that at 28, they ask for mass spectrometer.

I went more schematic than photorealistic. Sample at the top, magnetized plates on the sides, collector at the bottom, an ion or two heading down.

Sometimes I think the book marketing scammers must actually be comedians.

Another milestone - my first book to reach 700 ratings on Amazon. Thanks to all who followed Morris' story (and don't forget Vampire Steve). Available in print, ebook, and audio.

13 ChatGPT-generated fake book marketers in 24 hours, some of them writing multiple times. "The vast potential of AI," they keep telling us.

The ebook for my mystery, Unwelcome Matt, is free until Wednesday. A librarian finds her housemate vanished and a dead body on her couch, and that's not even the worst day she's in for. Grab a copy on me!

A week's worth of book marketer scams, all fake people with throwaway gmail accounts, all messages written by AI.

Just got my copy of The Expanding Universe 11, a monster of an anthology of military sci fi, and home to one of my stories. The book officially releases on the 15th, but I got one early. 648 pages of space adventures!

I've commissioned new cover art for Got Trouble. It's by Abby Blanchard, and now my three North Carolina mysteries all have Abby's art, which is really cool. If you haven't checked out Glynnis' adventures, you're in for a treat, and the other two are great fun as well.

My tenth novel, Unwelcome Matt, will be out next week. I always have silly jokey chapter titles in my books. Here are the ones for this book:

The dubiousness of hiring a guy named Mike Kuntz aside, I'm definitely not hiring this guy as an editor. He's fake anyway, but still.

I've been thinking about setting up a site where indie authors could enter their sales and productivity data and then get a sense of their position relative to other indies. It might produce graphs like this. Would you be (1) interested in this, and (2) willing to enter your data?
