Movies, Mets, and existential dread
9. Somehow clocked all HOU/20 game winners besides Joe Niekro & Keuchel (both of whom I knew but just forgot)— think Lima & Hampton, both in 1999, are the lowest rarities

I’m just shocked that the guy who did it *this past season* was lower than one from the 80s. One can never predict a rarity…

Worst trade deadline acquisition not just in history, not just for the Mets. He’s the anti-Cespedes

Drake Baldwin is single digits?! Where’s the recency bias? Thought for sure he’d be higher

16. 7 Mets— no Braves ROY works, and I blanked on ATL/TEX, even though, after looking at the list, there are several I should’ve remembered

Aside from 3 horrendous stretches in June, August & September, they were a great team. Not an excuse, just that few teams can weather going like 1-12 for a stretch three different times

I was genuinely rooting for him to turn it around, and felt like it was killing him not to succeed, but he’s one of the biggest culprits for how the season turned out. When they got him, I thought the pen would be lockdown, still just crazy to me it was the opposite

If he pitched as was expected of him, they’re easily a 90-win team. He was just another leak in the submarine hull that they didn’t have enough chewing gum for— the pen being destabilized exacerbated the roster’s other weaknesses.

1, all Mets. Not to complain, but Roger McDowell is insanely high

Randy Hundley twins!

10. The spelling of Mat Latos’ first name always bothered me, yet “Bret” with 1 T vs. 2 doesn’t. Why is that?

The other Cubs’ Pie (Felix) doesn’t work, sadly

5. Does Heavy Johnson cover his Pud with a Cap when doing the Charleston? You can be Honus with me, Hoss.

So wild to me that the Nats hitter I least wanted to see up in a big spot during his tenure ended up having this career trajectory. No exaggeration, feared him more than Bryce, Zimmerman, Werth, Trea, even Soto.

Only name I recognize is the center square— excellent job!

6. I pine for the alternate timeline where Duaner Sanchez never got hurt in 2006
November 26, 2025 at 5:41 PM
Do you think Gray will have a repeat his Yankee tenure being back in a high-pressure market? Seemed like he’s been more comfortable in the Midwest, but curious if that was just a bad stretch or if there’s something to the “can’t pitch in NY” label

The episode of Mad Men we never knew we wanted!

Isn’t Adcock technically dick-free since his surname suggests directions for adding it?

5. Harry Kingman, only Chinese-born MLB player

Love the enthusiasm! AY lost, but pitched pretty well, actually. Not sure if it fell within his infamous consecutive decisions streak. Dug up the box score— very deGromian loss
