lol second generation waited until the facisist had already took over.

If this was the US's experts, no wonder they are a dictatorshit now.
“Part of it is you’re leaving because ultimately, it is like leaving Germany in 1932, 33, 34. There’s resonance: my grandmother left Berlin with my father in 1939. So it’s a family tradition.”
Woah. “Jason Stanley, who wrote the 2018 book How Fascism Works: The Politics of Us and Them, has accepted a position at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.”

" Canadian Coffee "

is coffee with Canadian maple syrup.

" Americano " is what Italian baristas called the swill they were forced to make for Americans.

I'll never understand this. In the last 3 generations my line has moved at least 10 times.

If you already don't own and you're not making a living wage then move.
The book follows five Atlanta families desperate to secure housing in a gentrifying, increasingly unequal city—despite holding down jobs, often more than one.

It’s about the rise of the “working homeless,” a crisis that lays bare how, in America today, hard work does not guarantee a roof overhead.

Can you apply for bankruptcy for health reasons in Canada?

The 1 year follow up is going to be the real story.

Speak a convenient truth the media likes and they will blast it all over the population for free.

You can even become a president of the USA.

Macedo and Lee's book "In COVID's Wake" has gotten the red-carpet treatment, mostly because it tells people what they want to hear: the pandemic wasn't so bad, we didn't need to respond in the way we did and the blame lies with the "experts." But in fact, this is agit-prop, not scholarship.
One of the best rejoinders to the claims in the book by Macedo and Lee was written by @dwallacewells.bsky.social for the @nytimes.com. I urge people to read it. 1/ www.nytimes.com/2024/11/27/o...

‘Letting it rip’ was a bad idea for COVID-19 and is an even worse idea for Bird Flu (whose mortality has historically been much higher).

It’s concerning being next to a country with this as a public health/biosecurity strategy.

“The Great Birdington Declaration”: The Origins of Kennedy’s Avian Flu Herd Immunity Plan Explained
The idea of letting a dangerous pathogen rip for herd immunity emerged out of right-wing efforts to reopen the economy at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Biden's cabinet was full of people who implemented the #BarringtonSlaughter as policy.
New from me in @wired.com: Donald Trump's cabinet is full of conspiracy theorists who think COVID-19 is a bioweapon, and that the doctors and scientists who now report to them helped create it.

Those scientists are worried about the coming military tribunals.

Revenge of the Covid Conspiracy Theorists
After years of GOP attacks on US health agencies, Trump appointees are poised to bring Covid-19 conspiracies to their leadership of US agencies. Federal workers are scared of what comes next.

Said it before. Point a high volume Corsi-blaster straight at your face (and be properly hyper-vaccinated) and you probably can't get covid, even in a room of covid. Or a car.
Physics! These are expected results when you understand the relationships between fan performance (power, flow, pressure) and media performance (filtration %, velocity, pressure drop). The result is decades of under-performing air cleaners because of a misguided focus on single-pass filtration.
[1/2] All that matters is CADR! Ignore things super-hyper-mega HEPA. Often times a filter that only provides 70-80% actually provides more clean air than a filter that is 99.97%(HEPA). I used a 16x20 3M filter taped to a Taotronic AP-003(with no internal HEPA installed) and got a 30% boost in CADR.
