Kirby Super Star Ultra realized the full potential of the original by:
1) Fixing the controls that makes movement more fun and less slippery.
2) QOL improvements like trackers for collectables.
3) Adding new modes and characters that would go on to become either series staples or fan favorites.

If there’s one thing that I’ve learned about the fans of each of these 4 Japanese franchises, it’s that they’re not necessarily fans of the gameplay first and foremost.
They’re almost always about the story and characters, and that’s what people love to post about online. Hardly ever the gameplay.

This is personally in my top 3 Final Fantasy games of all time, alongside FF6 and FF9.
Here’s hoping Yasumi Matsuno continues to develop rich sweeping narratives in games for years to come!

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles launches today for all major platforms!
This is personally in my top 3 Final Fantasy games of all time, alongside FF6 and FF9.

Handheld Nintendo versions of mainline Dragon Quest games are such a cool idea.
So many interesting differences, both big and small, compared to their original releases.
Even the entries that started off life on a non-Nintendo platform, like DQ7 and DQ8, eventually made their way back to Nintendo.
