but just truly at like what point in the current work-week of already-working multiple jobs are people supposed to be volunteering I really want to understand?? (other than graduate students, graduate workers, fine, but clearly also we are only allowed to "volunteer" in very specific ways so...)

I refuse to believe this particular elite is ignorant of how and why trump was able to gain power the way he did and how their narratives about immigration WILL NOT SAVE THEM.

honestly this Labour Party's leaders make me sick with their laziness, narrative capitulation, and pandering. it is incredibly dangerous. the last six months have shown me how little English and british people know/understand about sociopolitical dynamics and movements in the US, but

it's SO RIDICULOUS because it belies a dangerous willingness to go along with Reform's portrayal of immigrants as just somehow coasting along instead of being people who through precarious OR white collar work, documented OR undocumented, contribute immensely to british life and the economy.

Note also how the US, China, and employers' groups are on the same side of this. Something that won't surprise those who have lived and worked in both places and often speak to the similarities.

Reading this, I'm seeing something I call the swerve
