I read Electoral-Vote.com every morning (and have most mornings since they started in 2004) and this is a great:
The Democrats have a huge burden the Republicans don't have: They care about people suffering; Republicans don't care who suffers, even when it is their own base.

A students flight is messed up returning from a grad school interview. I said that missing class for a grad school interview is a completely fine reason to miss. It's like The Ring: if you're passing the misery of academic life along, you're fine.

Today in politics, the neolibs that make up the Democratic Party are more terrified than the conservatives. More bulletins as events warrant.

All this should tell you about 2026 is that it has always been the economy, stupid. The culture war candidates lost tonight and the people talking about the economy won.

Donald Trump having an ass-level window with a toilet immediately next to it is perhaps the very best metaphor for our moment.

On one hand I feel like artists who have no challenges to having their work published/produced make less exciting art at some point as they age.
On the other, I wish I were further along than competing with 25 year olds in the poetry contest system while in my mid 40s.

Imagine if I said to you "All of my organs are failing, my senses have all stopped, I'm bleeding out of my eyes...

Wall St scales fresh highs on tech earnings, US-China trade optimism
Wall Street's main indexes posted record closing highs for the second day in a row on Monday as investors were hopeful about the prospects for a U.S.-China trade deal and looked forward to a week packed with high-profile technology earnings and a widely expected U.S. interest rate cut.

"Are you worried about publishing such a political poem?" a friend asks.
"No, because I don't assume anyone read it."
(the galley version since people said my photo of the print copy was hard to read)

Idea: poetry book contests shouldn't offer a set prize amount. They should reimburse you for the amount you spent sending the thing out (within reason, of course).

Today, 2/3 of my classes read from physical books. Take that, Amazon...where the students probably bought said books.
