I have this same desire every day.
From @theathletic.com: The Norwegian skier Atle Lie McGrath was heartbroken after he lost a slalom gold medal that was his to take. He threw his poles, unstrapped his skis, and stormed off, alone with his thoughts as the world watched on.

A heartbroken Atle Lie McGrath walked off the course after failing to finish his second run in the men's slalom.

A good moment to say that my days of doing poetry reviews are (mostly) over. There are several reasons I won't get into here, most of which are petty AF. Been at regularly since 2012 and it's time to stop.

(I agreed to one more, which based on mob films, will actually be someone taking me out.)
A Big Five editor I interviewed

“It’s impossible to get reviews. And the reviews you do get are not moving the needle. Literary fiction is review-driven. So if you're not getting reviews, or the reviews you’re getting are not getting eyes on them, it’s like, well, then what are you supposed to do?”

It's sort of funny to see the "drain the swamp" and "law and order" folks now saying that investigating criminals might cause the system they were claiming to want to break to...break.

What has happened to this conference??? Mornings were set aside for hangovers and figuring out where you left your keys.

(I am just kidding @jamesyates.bsky.social — good on you!)
Looking for AWP running buddies. I'm training for my first marathon in April, and I don't want to lose any training days. So if you're cool and want to get some miles in around Baltimore, let me know. ❤️

It must be amazing to be good at something, not seem like you're good at it, but then earn rightful credit for being amazing at it.

This is my Jesse Plemmons hot take.

Okay, so sorry to talk politics but I'm finding this darkly funny:

Trump is saying he wants federal oversight on elections. What did the SCOTUS rule on in the last few years that had given the federal government oversight on elections *in specific states*?

Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.

Having spent many hours enjoying the free A/C at the Providence Place Mall before my funding kicked in and in the post-MFA abyss, Secret Mall Apartment was an absolute joy to watch. I seem to not recall it being a thing I had heard about, which is surprising. Some of the folks look familiar—
